WHY NASHVILLE - It's not just Country and Bluegrass although we've certainly got that. Nashville is the best place in the world to make a record, any record. Just ask my clients or any of the multi-platinum artists that choose Nashville over any other city to record: Rap, R&B Rock, Jazz, Film, Children's, Gospel, Broadway, Ethnic... you name it, it gets done here, and done right. You will get more for your money in Nashville than anywhere else. The favorable rates, the your-word-is-your-bond mentality, and the work ethic not to mention the amazing talent level here makes Nashvegas THE place for making your recording a reality. My knowledge of the industry can help guide you to the right people and places. TRACKING - Here in Nashville I have the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing musicians and producers in the world at some of the coolest studios around. They trust me, and for me that is the best endorsement I could get. Whether it's a seven piece full country band or guitar/vocal, jazz trio or big band, orchestra or string quartet, funk band or punk band I'll get it to "tape" sounding right. If you are a serious musician/songwriter and haven't experienced the work-flow of a Nashville tracking session yet... put it on your bucket list. MIXING - Examples of my mixing are on the Home page. I often work in my personal mix room at home although I'm happy to work anywhere that has the right setup and room for a mix. Mixing on my rig allows me to live with the mixes and come back when necessary while saving my clients the studio costs. I have the means to get that "big-console" sound on my rig and I've had a lot of success doing it this way. I prefer to do flat rate mixing which requires me to approve the tracks if I wasn't involved in the recording process. Otherwise, I just charge hourly. That way if the song needs a ton of work my clients get the end product they need and I'm covered for any extra time invested. The mix isn't done until all involved are happy - no compromises. DIGITAL EDITING -This is something that is almost always done to one degree or another but not something often talked about. I am a highly experienced vocal editor/tuner. From lead vocal 'comping' and background vocal alignment to extensive, by-hand tuning I am fluent on multiple platforms. These include Autotune, Melodyne Studio, Melodyne DNA polyphonic editor, Pitch 'N Time, Sound Replacer, DrumAgog, Pro Tools Elastic Time & Beat Detective, VocAlign and more. The editing list goes on to include drum and bass timing and alignment, musical time-stretching and pitch shifting, choir tuning, and de-noising. I have even done some audio forensics work for the US Justice Department. It's a brave new world for computer based audio. It's a tool not a crutch. LONG DISTANCE SESSIONS- In the Internet Age it is so easy to do projects for folks all around the world. Simply upload your files to me. I'll do my thing and send it back the same way. Maybe you want to access the Nashville musician pool and get your songs in on a tracking session, maybe add some strings or background vocals, or maybe some accordion and bag pipes (no, I'm not kidding). You can have your tracks cleaned up, tuned up, and otherwise polished, or simply send me your completed tracks to mix. It's all as easy as... F, T, P. GEAR - I'm constantly listening, auditioning, researching, and using the latest in audio equipment. While in-session at some of the top recording facilities with some of the best players in the world on a regular basis I've seen what works and what doesn't; not to mention an inside track with other serious audio pros who like to talk a little shop now and then. Recording equipment and instruments and the ability to employ them, trouble shoot them, and sometimes avoid them are keys to a successful recording process. It's all about... FIDELITY! Need some good gear advice? Drop me a line. |
